Property Review: Liz and Jim from Liverpool

When we decided to purchase a property abroad we did what most couple do, we looked in Spain, Portugal, and France, before coming to Cyprus.  Spain was just a little too expensive and France was way out of our league.  We hadn’t considered Cyprus until a friend of our mentioned it.  We booked to go on one of the property tours and the rest as they say is history.

The property tour operator couldn’t have been more helpful and our four day tour was excellent.  We saw our dream home one the first day but they still took us to view other properties for the next two days just in case we saw something else.  Once we chose our property which is a three bed villa situated just outside town overlooking the beach, the company did the rest.  They organized meetings with solicitors and explained the entire procedure to us.  They really couldn’t have been more helpful.

You hear about property deals abroad going wrong all the time and buyers being conned out of thousands of pounds.  Then of course you hear about the shoddy workmanship and the costs of having this repaired.  We had none of this; our purchase was straight forward and without any complications.  The price was excellent too and we now have our dream home away from home.

Paphos is an excellent place to buy, you get sunshine all year round, there are very low crime rates, and the people are so friendly and welcoming.  It’s also an English speaking place so this really helps.  The cost of living is good too.  We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect holiday home and best of all when we’re not here our property is rented out.  A local company takes care of this for us and we have no worries while we are at home in Liverpool.  We do plan to retire in Paphos eventually when all the kids have grown and flown the next but until then we are just delighted to have an amazing holiday home that we can spend the summer months in.
